Student Re-Engagement Grant Application FY19-20 Budget - HOPE Online Learning Academy.xlsx
Summary : Background Information: Hope Online Learning Academy High School qualifies to apply for the CDE Student Re-engagement Grant due to their accountability status. Hope is applying for these funds and, if granted approval through CDE’s grant approval review process, will engage in the
activities as outlined in their proposal.

The grant is a 3-year grant with funding contingent each year
dependent on legislative appropriations. Hope Online Learning
Academy High School is requesting $100,000 for each year to support
facilitation of a Wraparound System of Support to address dropout
and low graduation rates. Goals of the grant funds by 2021-2022
include Academic Achievement – 75% of students served through
the grant program will decrease failing grades for one or more core
classes; Students show gains in school engagement – 50% of
students served through the grant program will increase their school
attendance; Students re-engage successfully – 50% of students
who transferred to a student re-engagement program will remain
enrolled through the end of the year. Grant funds will be used each
funded year to provide 1.5 FTE for Re-engagement Facilitators who
will be state-licensed or state-certified school counselor, school
psychologist, school social worker, or school nurse, or other state-
licensed or state-certified mental health professionals qualified to
provide support services to children and adolescents; piloting of a
summer extension program designed to assist super seniors and 11th
graders that will be short credits for graduation the following school
year; PD for facilitators at state sponsored events; and data analysis
for an evaluator to assure fidelity with the grant objectives.

Rationale for Request: For the CDE Student Re-engagement Grant for Hope Online Learning Academy High School, board signature is required for submission of the application and acceptance of grant funds by the district as the fiscal agent for the grant. CDE will be scoring, approving, and awarding the grant application and funds. If the grant is awarded CDE has an extensive evaluation process in place for the use of the grant funds and related activities.
